Overview
With deeper reform of telecommunications going on, open telecommunications market architecture has been formed, so telecommunication operators are confronted with sharper market competition, as they have to provide better services while their cost must be reduced. That is why a centralized network management (NM) and maintenance center is established, allowing use of an advanced network management system (NMS). With maintenance personnel of higher level, and more NEs maintained (for even remote maintenance operations) in a centralized way, the NM system can enhance maintenance efficiency and reduce the number of maintenance personnel. In this way, the system can lower maintenance cost while enhancing the quality of services.
The ZTE NetNumenTM Integrated NMS provides various maintenance functions, including centralized operations and alarm monitoring over the NE layer. The system can be also used to perform integrated management on the network layer, and adjust the network from a global view for optimization of the entire network. In terms of functions, it provides functions of the NE layer module, such as network monitoring, alarm supervising and centralized operation/maintenance. It also implements functions of the network layer module, such as user-defined report form system and WEB display subsystem. With these functions, it not only reduces the operating intensity for maintenance personnel and enhances maintenance efficiency, but also analyzes and handles problems with the network from a whole-network point of view. In this way, this system can allow unified management over the entire network and higher operation/maintenance level of the entire network.
System Advantages
The ZTE NetNumen TM Integrated NMS enhances the quality of network operation/ maintenance management, gradually provides service-oriented and customer-oriented management functions, and provides telecommunication operators with basis for decision-making.
• This NM system enables the management body to take various effective measures to extract the maximum benefits from the network resources, including management on the configuration of various NEs in the communication network, statistical analysis on the configuration and utilization of the entire network.
• The system provides centralized monitoring and handling of alarms throughout the network. During network monitoring, it collects alarm information and network events of various NEs, and stores them into the database for alarm statistics and queries. Besides statistical analysis on faults, it is also capable of performing operation/maintenance over faulting NEs.
• The NM system can supervise the running quality of the entire network, and implement real-time monitoring over the related performance indexes of key NEs and services; it also generates performance reports through analyzing the network performance. With the information, it can provide guidance to maintenance and management departments for network construction, network planning and optimization, thus improving network operation quality.
• The system implements centralized configuration of and management on the network, including service configuration, network configuration, route setup, link allocation, and nodes configuration (adding/removing nodes).
• The system can be used to perform management on the configuration, running conditions, backup and security of the NMS itself. The management operations include node configuration management, network supervision, system progress management, system log management and version management. By setting NE management domain, user groups and user authorities, the system ensures management on equipment access, user login and data operation security;
Relationships between the Integrated NMS and Other Systems

Figure 4-1 Relationships between the Integrated NMS and other Systems
As an intermediate joint between the lower NMS and the upper operation support, the integrated NMS enables the user to perform management on the network from a view point of the entire network. Meanwhile, the integrated NMS provides the upper applications with unified interfaces. The relationships between the integrated NMS and other systems are described as follows:
• By way of the lower NMS, it realizes centralized supervision/centralized management and centralized maintenance on the devices of the entire network;
• It provides the upper operation system with services of basic data and equipment management services relating to the equipment:
• Providing the resource management with unified equipment configuration information;
• Providing the eOMS with network fault alarm information;
• Providing the operation analysis system with primitive data of statistical analysis. Download this document(156K)
